At the beginning of the lesson the teacher is advised to give the students English names to make them feel more like in the English culture. This is likely to make them more committed, because they can choose the names on their own- time 5-10 minutes.
The lesson it self is about a sightseeing tour around the USA. Students are the tour participants and the teacher is the tour guide. Every student receives a copy of a map of the American cities where the start and the end of the tour is marked. The teacher has chosen the cities that he or she considers to be special, to be famous, to be a landmark. 20 minutes
Activity – 10 minutes
After the tour finishes, the students receive some questions regarding the tour:
Which city they liked the most? And why?
Is there a city which was not on the map and which you like and you would like to talk about?
(if the students can’t think of any ideas, the teacher comes up with some ideas of the cities to stimulate the students and liven up the discussion)
